"Cowboy boots are both one of my favourite vintage trends and one of our bestselling items. You can't go wrong with a traditional, sturdy cowboy boot but personally, I'm always on the look-out for an unusual colour, pattern or material, adding a camp touch to any outfit. The Y2K denim heeled cowboy-style boots are a stand-out look. I like to imagine Britney Spears was wearing these with her iconic denim cowgirl outfit at the 2001 AMA awards.

Cowboy boots were designed to allow cowboys to work the land, which was hard labour and often dangerous work. This feeds into the design of cowboy boots today that makes them so popular as a vintage item. Strong and sturdy, a cowboy boot from the 1970s often remains in almost immaculate condition. In the 1880s, buying a new pair of cowboy boots became a status symbol, so customisation came into play and they developed into a fashion item. Fashion cowboy boots were popularised by 1930s Hollywood films and returned to fashion in the 1960s and 1970s in a simpler form.

Cowboy fashion goes hand-in-hand with country music. However, now with the rise of queer country-pop artists such as Lil Nas X, Orville Peck and Lady Gaga, the aesthetic moves further and further away from the traditionally masculine cowboy. Kaj Money Vintage is here to celebrate rhinestoned cowboy hats and heeled shimmery cowboy boots!"
